From marijuana buds, edibles, juice for vapes and seeds to grow your own crop, you can find all things related to marijuana at Weedology in Ontario. Managers say about 650 customers per day walk through the doors... and the vast majority are from across the river in the Gem State.
"We probably see 80% Idaho customers versus Oregon, Nevada, Utah and Arizona we get our neighboring states that come in but at least 80% of these license plates are coming from Idaho and that’s something we don’t keep track of because of Oregon laws but you can just take a look a subjective look," said Eric Lantz, General Manager of Weedology.
About a three minute drive up I-84 is Burnt River Farms. They tout seed to store products... they grow their own marijuana. Burnt River Farms workers say it's the same type of customers lining up.
“Yeah there’s a lot of Idaho plates here I’d say 70% to 80%... ya know Idaho plates,” said Taylor Rembowski of Burnt River Farms.
“There’s a large population that likes to use our product use it for recreation and medication but seeing those numbers it’s a little higher than I thought but the majority is not a big surprise. We anticipated a significant number from Idaho,” Lantz said.
“Location being close to the border is definitely one reason. Another factor that’s important to note is that in Oregon, we can grow four plants per residence and so we kind of supply ourselves to some extent where in Idaho it’s a no,” Rembowski said.
