After spending Sunday at (Secret Beach) Po’olena, I witnessed residents there vent aggression — swearing, fingers flying — at the drum circle because Little Beach was closed and the people from Little Beach ended up being at Secret Beach.
At Little Beach, the gate closes at 4 p.m. Saturdays and Sundays, and prevents this activity from being there. Because of that, it has moved.
Since then, Maui Police Department and Hawaii Department of Land and Natural Resources have been called on several occasions due to aggressive acts of violence.
I’ve been going to the drum circle since the beginning of it. The police and the DLNR have never had to be called for of these kind of problems at Little Beach.
The DLNR is creating a dangerous and unhealthy situation on Maui by closing Little Beach. They need to reopen Little Beach on Sundays.
